The Buffalo Song is an original song by Jonny Lipford on the Native American flute and is part of the Flute Scales + Simple Rhythms Series on YouTube.

The songs in this series are meant to put a certain musical scale into action and combine them with a simple rhythm. This allows the flute player to integrate new note combinations into their everyday playing and sharing of music while learning to play along with simple rhythms. 

What's included in this Resource Pack? 

You'll receive the following items in this pack: 

  • A simple (non-embellished) version of the sheet music [PDF] with finger diagrams. 
  • The Single of the original recording [MP3].
  • The Rhythm Backing Track that you hear in the song.
  • A Scale Sheet of the Basic Scale (the scale used in this particular song).

Buffalo song review

I am still learning how to play this song, but already I am enjoying it. If anything, aside from its simplicity, it to me sounds a lot like a kind of song that the Native American style flute was made to play.

I really enjoy playing these kinds of songs on the Flute. Keep them coming, Jonny

A wonderfully meditative song.

I really enjoy the Buffalo Song. It is a wonderfully meditative tune. I also like that it only uses the basic pentatonic notes, which also makes it easy to play.

I play the full recorded version thru an app that can change the pitch of the playback which allows me to play along on my F# flute.

It is also an easy tune to harmonize with, either by making up your own harmonies or by playing a different part of the song while the original is playing through the song. It is a lot of fun.

I highly recommend the Buffalo Song. I bought a second copy for my friend!
